Cuticle and Nail Treatments

Use the combination of the following oils and solid 'butters' to make your own cuticle and nail application. It's best to remove all fingernail polish before using these. A good time to use them is after soaking them - even after taking a shower or bath. The oils will soak in better when their is moisture. Mix a small amount of the oils/butters of your choice and apply. Do this at least once a week to keep your nails and cuticles looking great.

      • Almond oil
      • Castor Oil
      • Cocoa Butter
      • Jojoba Oil
      • Lanolin
      • Mango Butter
      • Olive oil
      • Peanut Oil
      • Safflower Oil
      • Shea Butter
      • Sunflower Oil
      • Vitamin E Oil

Nail Whitener

This solution is good if your nails get discolored from wearing nail polish and other substances your hands come in contact with. Mix in a small container with a lid. To use, remove all nail polish from nails and apply with a cotton ball to nails. After each application allow to dry, and then repeat as many times as desired. You will most likely have to do this for a couple days to completely bleach your nails. After you're done applying solution, rub lotion or nail and cuticle cream into your nails to avoid over drying (from the lemon juice).

      • 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
      • 3 tbsp orange flower water

Give Yourself A Manicure/Pedicure

It would be nice to do this every week - but that's not possible with most people's schedules. Try at least once a month to do this. Take an extra 1/2 hour to treat yourself to this.

  • Remove all nail polish and soak hands/feet for 10 minutes in warm water that has liquid castile soap in it.

  • Apply the nail/cuticle oil (from above) by rubbing it into cuticles thoroughly - then pushing back your cuticles. Don't be too rough and don't cut your cuticles - that will damage them.

  • Cut and file your nails with a soft emery board.

  • Make a sugar scrub out of plain water and sugar and rub onto your hands/feet to make them smooth.

  • Apply more nail/cuticle cream to cuticles.

  • Apply lotion or moisturizer all over hands/feet.

  • If your hands/feet tend to be very dry - do this in the evening and apply a very rich moisturizer (try our Heavy Body Cream recipe) to your hands/feet, then put on gloves or socks and wear overnight. It will improve your hands/feet very quickly.
