  • Before shredding cheese in a food processor, spray with vegetable oil to stop the cheese from sticking to everything.

  • To clean store bought fruit and vegetables (with skins), fill sink with warm water and put 3-4 drops of Castile soap in the water. Wash and make sure to rinse thoroughly.

  • Can't find popsicle molds? Use mini paper / plastic cups and popsicle sticks or plastic spoons for the handle.

  • When putting cookie dough on the cooking sheet, dip the spoon in milk so the dough will slide right off.

  • For an old fashioned syrup, combine maple syrup and powdered sugar together to desired consistency.

  • Another quick frosting is combining sweetened condensed milk with cocoa powder until desired consistency.

  • Make an ice cream sandwich by placing ice cream in between graham crackers, or make mini sandwiches by using store bought or home made cookies.

  • Use a turkey baster when making pancakes to get even size pancakes.

  • Marinate your meat (chicken, beef) with vinegar - overnight - for tender meat. You can also use tomato juice, wine, beer.

  • Make your own butter by pouring room-temperature heavy whipping cream into a glass mason jar with a tight fitting lid. Shake the jar until the butter is one big lump. Drain off the liquid and store in a Tupperware container. Use quickly.

  • Put cooking oil in a glass bottle and add a pour spout. It is less messy and looks nicer than the plastic bottles.

  • When you have to measure sticky things like butter, honey, etc. - coat the measuring cup in oil.

  • Use a heated ceramic tile as a 'bun warmer'.

  • Clean your coffee grinder with a soft piece of bread. It will grab up excess oil and other food left behind from your previous grindings.

  • When boiling corn on the cob, add a little sugar to bring out the sweetness in the corn.

  • A slice of fresh bread, or sliced apples will soften brown sugar that has become hard.

  • Spray your plastic food containers with vegetable spray before storing tomato based products. This should eliminate most stains.

  • To keep the cut ends of cakes soft and fresh, put a fresh piece of bread against it (using toothpicks).

  • Put your dishwashing soap into a glass bottle and add a pour spout. This will look much nicer than the plastic bottle sitting out on the sink all the time.

  • To keep your whip cream fluffy, add a little confectioner's sugar.

  • After cutting fruits and vegetables (apples, banana's, etc.) - to keep them from browning, mist them with lemon juice.

  • When using a recipe that requires eggs, remove eggs 1/2 hour before using for better results.

  • Instead of peeling potatoes, scrub with a vegetable scrubber to remove dirt. The skin is the healthiest part of the potato anyway.

  • Make cake cones....Using a flat bottom ice cream cone, pour cupcake batter in cones and bake. After baking, add frosting and decorate with sprinkles.

  • Store your garlic cloves in a jar of olive oil.

  • Add egg yolks to your dogs food to give them a shiny coat.

  • Want to make sure your eggs are fresh? They will sink in water and their shells are dull and slightly rough.

  • Rub oil on your cheese shredder before using so cheese won't stick.

  • When frosting a double layer cake, to prevent the frosting from slipping off the cake, dust with cornstarch before frosting.

  • To slice a cake without any mess, use a long piece of dental floss, pulled tight.

  • If you want moister cake batter, add 1 tsp white vinegar.

  • Want to frost your cake without frosting getting all over the plate or serving platter? Cut wax paper into triangles and place under the cake covering the plate. After you are done frosting, pull out the wax paper.

  • To prevent your cooking oil from coating the outside of the container with oil after you pour, wrap a terry cloth scrunchie around the top, below the lid. This will absorb the excess oil that usually runs down the bottle.

  • To make water boil faster, sprinkle salt in it.

  • Add some cooking oil when boiling pasta so the noodles won't stick together.
