This is a good idea for those who travel a lot with their pets and also just in case of an emergency. Either way, it's prepared and ready for you at a moments notice. You can add to this list or even leave things out - depending on what things apply to your pet. Make sure that it's not too heavy and bulky as it will be hard to store in your house or car - and it can make it difficult to carry around if need be. Good items to use are backpack, containers with handles, bags with handles. Plastic grocery bags are not recommended for obvious reasons. Your kit can include the following:
  • an extra collar and leash with name tag with owner information

  • veterinarian's information (name, phone number, address)

  • name of any medication given to pet with information on where to get it (example: heart guard, flea and tick medication, arthritis medication, etc.) (keeping the actual medication may not be a good idea due to expiration dates)

  • ear cleaner if used

  • brush

  • small trash bags

  • dog biscuits in a tightly sealed zip lock bag

  • a small supply of dry food (if applicable) in a tightly sealed zip lock bag

  • cans of soft food with can opener (if not the pull back tabs)

  • unopened bottle of water

  • small plastic dish for water (or collapsible water dish)

  • small blanket (for small dogs who get cold easy)
