When to Send Invitations and Other Wedding Related Information

You want to make sure that your guests receive their invitations in a timely matter - not too early, but not too late. It's important that out of town guests have plenty of time to make travel arrangements for your wedding, so they will need to receive their invitations even earlier than local wedding guest. Below is a general 'time line' regarding invitations.

Order Your Invitations
At least 3 months before you will be mailing them out.
Mail Save the Date Cards to out of town guests (and local if you want to as well).
At least 3 months in advance. Some send them out at the announcement of their engagement.
Mail Invitations to out of town guests.
At least 8 weeks prior to the wedding date
Mail Invitations to all other guests.
6-8 weeks prior to the wedding date
Mail the rehearsal dinner invitation if you are not sending them with the wedding invitation.
3-4 weeks prior to the rehearsal dinner date
Mail gift opening brunch, lunch or dinner invitation - or any post wedding activities that some or all of your guests are invited to.
3-4 weeks prior to the wedding date
