6-9 months before:

  • Do a bridal registry to register for your gift preferences (take your fiance with you).

  • Send out 'Save the Date' cards. These are nice especially for out of town guests so they can get a head start on making travel arrangements.

  • Begin looking at invitations or purchasing supplies to make your own. (Read our article Looking For the Perfect Invitation).

  • Begin looking for who you want to do your wedding cake. Shop around for prices and taste (most bakeries will give you samples to try). Get recommendations.

  • Begin looking for the entertainment you want (DJ's, live bands, etc.) Get tapes, set up appointments to listen to live bands, etc. so you can see the quality of work they do.
