After the Honeymoon:

  • Get settled in your new home.

  • Begin writing thank you notes. There are several different opinions on how long you have to do them (3 months, 3-6 months), but the sooner the better. Show your guests how much you appreciate all they put into your wedding (attending, the gifts, the money, etc.) This way, you don't drag it out for half a year and get tired of doing them.

  • If you are changing your last name, you'll need to go to Socail Security and get a new card. You will need to notify all your financial institutions of the change (banks, credit cards, mortgage companies). Change your driver's license, notify charites of your name change, your work place (most will require a photocopy of your new SS card), and any other entity that has your maiden name on it.

  • Return any duplicate gifts.

  • Keep your important papers in a fire safe box (marriage license, passports, visa's).

  • It's a nice gesture to visit with all your bridal party again - show honeymoon pictures, see any pictures they may have taken at the wedding. Don't forget about them now that the wedding is over.
